Gloves are mainly used to protect the skin from harm in People's Daily activities and special environments, and can also be used to play a decorative role in daily life.According to the different production methods, it is divided into knitted gloves, sewing gloves, soaked gloves and so on. Depending on the function, there are flame retardant gloves, welding gloves, non-slip gloves, oil resistant gloves, acid and alkali resistant gloves, medical gloves, heat resistant gloves, thermal gloves, boxing gloves, work gloves, ski gloves, guardian gloves, protective gloves, ceremonial gloves, aerospace gloves, labor protection gloves and so on. The main materials for making gloves are various rubber, leather, plastic, fiber and so on.

Untreated rubber and plastic gloves have the disadvantages of being difficult to remove and not easy to wear. The traditional treatment method is to coat the surface of the gloves with a layer of lubricating materials (such as starch, talc powder, etc.) to increase the wearability and release of the gloves. However, powder lubricants can cause pollution during production and use, and may cause allergic reactions in some people, so the use of powder gloves is gradually decreasing. At present, waterborne polyurethane (WPU) finishing agent has been used to coat the inner layer of gloves in place of powder lubricants such as starch or talc. The production process of waterborne polyurethane glove finishing agent is simple, the emulsion stability is good, and the film forming elasticity and puncture resistance are excellent.

Waterborne polyurethane not only has the advantages of non-toxic, non-polluting environment, not easy to burn, safe and reliable, not easy to damage the coated surface, energy saving, easy to operate and easy to modify, but also has good solvent resistance, wear resistance, flexibility and thermal stability. It has been widely used in the fields of leather coating, fabric, adhesive and coating.

Waterborne polyurethane has the following main applications in the glove industry.

1.Unlined gloves, directly using waterborne polyurethane film;

2.Powder-free PVC gloves are coated with a water-based polyurethane film inside the PVC;

3.Natural rubber gloves and PVC household gloves inner layer electrostatic flocking waterborne polyurethane glue;

4.Protective gloves, in the non-woven gloves, knitted gloves or fingertips coated with water-based polyurethane film has achieved labor protection.
